About Me

I'm John Cordray, a Licensed Professional Counselor, mental health advocate, and the voice behind The Mental Health Today Show podcast and Therapy Scenes on YouTube. My mission? To make mental wellness approachable, practical, and empowering for everyone.I've always believed that mental health isn't just about surviving, it's about thriving. That belief lef me to become a licensed counselor, where I've spent two decades helping individuals navigate life's challenges, from anxiety and stress to relationships and self-discovery. My work is rooted in compassion, evidence-based practices, and a deep commitment to seeing people grow into their best selves. But I didn't stop there. I wanted to reach beyond the therapy office, so I started creating. On my YouTube channel, I share weekly videos about mental health topics using scenes from TV and movies. Then came The Mental Health Today Show, my podcast, where I dive into conversations with experts and everyday heroes to explore what mental wellness looks like today. When I'm not counseling or creating, you can find me sipping coffee with my dog, Finn, curled up nearby, or hiking with my wife, or jotting down ideas for my next episode. I'm passionate about breaking the stigma around mental health, one story, one video, one episode, one session at a time.I'm glad you're here. Whether you're looking for support, inspiration, or want to be my next guest on my podcast, I'd love to be part of your journey. Subscribe to my YouTube channel and The Mental Health Today Show podcast.Let's make mental health a priority, together.

My YouTube channel where mental health meets the magic of pop culture! I break down complex mental health topics in a way that's fun, relatable, and easy to grasp. Think of it as "edutainment", education wrapped in entertainment. On my channel, I mix practical mental health insights with the TV shows, movies, and trends we all love. Ever wonder how Tony Soprano's bravado hides his anxiety? Or what The Bear can teach us about panic attacks and narcissism? I dive into these stories to shine the spotlight on topics like trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, and more, using characters and scenes you know to make the science of mental health real. With new videos every week, my goal is to give you the tools to understand yourself (and others) better, all while enjoying a fresh take on your favorite binge-worthy moments. Whether you're a mental health newbie or a seasoned self-reflector, there's something here for you. Hit that subscribe button and join me, let's explore the mind one pop culture reference at a time!
